We allow drivers to give us preferences on areas they DO NOT want to run. We then plan accordingly in order to keep the driver in areas they feel comfortable.
-
NO. A full-time driver with Barlowtrans is assigned their own truck. During time off, they may take the truck to a safe and secure location (or home).
-
Yes, we have guidelines for both layover and detention when drivers are held up or held over for their next load.
-
No, we do not haul hazmat
-
We do not load in New York City. We do little to no freight into the upper Northeast.
-
Yes. If you spend money necessary for the trip and the expense is preapproved by your dispatcher, we will reimburse you for the expense with a valid receipt.
-
Our pay week is all loads delivered from Thursday through Wednesday. Those loads are then paid the following week via direct deposit. Payroll runs one week behind in order to allow the accounting department to make sure that your payroll is accurate.
-
Currently, we do NOT offer health insurance options paid by the company. However, TLC who handles our payroll and employee leasing options offers supplemental insurance for employees to purchase.
-
- This is subject to how you decide to run. We have two options available currently. Our regional program and our Road Warrior program.
- Regional Drivers: You will be home, or through the house, weekly. This varies from week to week. Drivers will be assigned lanes that they can come through the house for overnight stays or a day off. This is subject to the driver still making On Time Pickup and Delivery. A driver in this program will make less money weekly as they are not gone as long but it works for those who wish to be home more. This is a relatively new program but one we are striving to develop and maintain.
- Road Warrior: A driver in this program will typically stay out 17-21 days at a time and then be home a full 4 days. A driver in this program is eligible for our Top Pay and will run all lanes that are negotiated during the recruiting process. Current starting pay is .50 cpm but may be more depending on experience.

You DO NOT own the truck but are rather leasing the truck with the option to purchase it, for a predetermined price, at the end of the lease. During the lease, you are responsible for weekly lease payments, along with other standing deductions such as insurance, weekly maintenance allowance, taxes and licenses.
-
Yes. You are responsible for the truck and trailer fuel. 100% of all Fuel Surcharge is passed along to you to offset increased fuel costs. In addition, we have national fuel discount programs with ALL major truck stops. These savings are passed on 100% to you. You will have an app on your phone or tablet that allows you to “shop” or plan for your fuel purchases and the discount is given to you during the settlement of your weekly loads.
-
No. You must haul company freight and work directly with our personnel. Your dispatcher will discuss options and work with you to find the best loads to meet your specific needs. This IS NOT Forced dispatch BUT you are expected to haul Barlow company freight and may choose the lanes you want to run. This freight Is competitive, and we have many options to meet your needs.
-
No. Barlow Truck line is the MC and Trucking company whose authority you will operate under. The Lease will be with our Truck Lease Division and will be separate from your operating agreement with Barlow Truck Line. Your recruiter can discuss and explain this in more detail.
-
Yes and No. You do have the right to take off when you want as you are paying for the truck, and it technically is your operation. However, we have found that if you are not willing to stay out 3-4 weeks at a time, this option is not financially feasible as your standing deductions continue weekly even when you are not running.
-
This depends on so many variables as all drivers are different. Your recruiter can discuss current financial numbers with you based on our operators we currently load. As in all things, the harder you work and smarter you are with your expenses and purchasing, the better you will do. We have MANY lease drivers who make an excellent weekly income and pay for their truck.
-
No. Barlowtrans employees and dispatchers will plan, load and dispatch you on all loads but technically you work for yourself. We are the facilitator and provide the support for you to be successful. Also, Barlow Truck Line is who you operate under both for settlements and safety.
-
NO. Barlowtrans, LLC is an agent for Barlow Transportation. Barlow Truck Line is based in Faucett, MO and is owned by the Lindsay Family. Barlowtrans, LLC is owned by Stan, Jodi, and Emma Watson and is based in West Plains, MO. Barlowtrans operates its own group of company owned trucks, as well as providing freight for company owned and Lease Purchase drivers through our network of Customers that we develop and manage.
-
Obviously, it is our hope that you will be successful but in the remote cases where life changes or situations arise, we will always work with a driver to assist them in working through their situation. If it is not possible, you may terminate the lease, without penalty. However, what equity you have built in the truck will be lost as this is a true Lease Purchase and the truck does not belong to you until the final lease payment is made and the predetermined purchase price is paid.
